So I got the call this morning that I was dreading, but had a feeling was coming. I heard back from my top choice employer (name will still remain unsaid) and was told that I didn't get the position. This is extremely frustrating because not only was this my top choice, but also because I had the interview two months ago. Yes, it was two months of back and forth and of hearing that I was seriously being considered for the position only to be turned down. The only slight positive, at least as I was told, was that the person they hired did exactly the same job at another production house. Who knows if that is true or if that is the line they give to every reject. It also sucks since this was the only interview I had been on for a real job. Informational interviews are great and they may lead to something down the road, but they don't bring with them an immediate position. So that's the news of suck for today.
In similar news, I have done a great job of making good contacts with people within the industry. I keep in touch with them on a regular basis just to get a pulse of the industry and any leads that they may have. Yesterday when writing to one of my contacts, I got this response from him:
"Unfortunately these months are the slowest in this business (not to mention the impending SAG strike in June). My buddy was just laid off and he can't find anything."
This is the same contact that a month ago wrote this lovely trinket to me:
"Like I said, things move very slow in this business. I was dragged along by LucasAnimation for 6 months before they decide to hire internally instead. Don't get frustrated, this is just how it is."
Maybe I should stop writing to this guy. Everytime I do, I just get more and more depressed. Oh well.....hopefully some good news will make this blog soon enough. Blog with you later.

:(
I got waitlisted at my top choice grad school, and I truthfully think I am better off where I am ultimately ending up. Corny, but everything does happen for a reason.
If you'd like I can put in a good word for you at Bath and Body Works ;)
Sorry to hear that, Scott. Hang in there, the job hunt can be a frustrating time. I like the attitude of the comment before mine, hopefully wherever you wind up will be the right fit for you. And who knows, you may still end up at your top choice when the time is right.
We're looking forward to seeing you and Mel this weekend. Talk to you soon.
